WINTER CARNIVAL

The third Sunday in January turned out to be a stellar day. We just finished up one of
the coldest weeks this winter had so far. As the record breaking number of Winter Carnival
participants made their way up the snow covered hill they were greeted by a roaring campfire
and the bright and warming sun shining through the trees.
The cabin was even more inviting with the warmth of the stove and the pleasant smell
all the different foods offered every time someone came through the door. With nearly 100
acres of woodland boarded by nearly a thousand acres of state land there was no shortage of
trails to race the collection of snowmobiles that had assembled that afternoon. The shooting
range was also available to the guests who wanted to try out the huge selection of firearms
available for our recreational use.
As always the incredible selection of food was second to none. From fresh strawberries
and gourmet chocolate to homemade bread a full culinary experience was available along
with plenty of adult beverages. As in years past the selection of cigars is always a treat and
it’s interesting to see how many more of the women participate in this tradition.
Starting the new year off with such a great outing definitely raises the bar for the remainder of the events scheduled for this year.
