I am happy to report there has been lots of progress on the continued project of restoring our club fire truck. We are about ¾ of the way to its completion. We were able to get the engine started and running last week, what a sweet sound and there was quite a round of applause. There are many finishing touches that still need to be done, but the majority of the reassembly is finished. There is still wiring, mounting the hood, letter-ing and some other small items on the list.

After all of the disappointments with the Vo Tech schools trying to get the painting done, Bruce and Ken Atcheson stepped up and did all of the painting themselves and did an amazing job, so much better than what the Vo Tech did on the first parts (which had to be redone). I think we would still be looking for a paint job if they had not taken on the task.

I also want to thank all of those who made generous donations of time and resources to this monumental project. The work would never have gotten done without all of you coming to help on all of those Saturdays over the past 3 months. It was definitely a team project, and I think everyone enjoyed figuring things out and working together to make it happen. I am really hoping to have it totally completed soon so the truck can be entered in Touring Class Judging at the National Meet in Gettysburg in June. We could not even think about doing this except for the parts loaned to the cause by our members. Thank you, and I look forward to the day it rolls out of my barn.
