April Garage Clinic

We had a nice turn out at “the barn” on Saturday, April 30, in the morning there were 4 Model A”s and about 11 members who arrived for coffee, doughnuts and of course, Evelyn’s crumb cake. It’s worth coming just to taste this amazing crumb cake. The brakes on Fred Hamway’s 31 Coupe were adjusted and during the process we noted that the threads on one of the brake rods was stripped. With a little work we removed and replaced it with an extra rod from stock. Fred took it out for a test drive and gave it a thumbs up review. John Morgan had a tapping sound the engine of his 1930 Fordor so he and Ed Olszewski pulled off the intake and exhaust manifold to get to the valve cover. They checked and clearance on the valves but found no problems. They buttoned it back up and started the engine with no change in the tapping sound…Oh well. New tubes and tires were put on Jeff Vanderhoff’s 1930 Town Sedan assisted by Ezell. They went at it dancing on the tires to break the bead, then forcing off. They definitely worked the hardest out of all the guys that day. We finished around 1:30, all in all it was a good time. A few members commented on a few things they had learned about servicing a Model A.
