Mother nature can be very deceiving at times. One day before our food drive, she dropped 9” of snow in the Sussex County area. Twenty miles south from my home, there was not a trace of snow. Although the rain and snow was much needed, it did not stop the 14 members from coming out and supporting our cause of donating food to the Wayne Interfaith Food Pantry. We also had members that did not come but still donated food. I would like to thank everyone who supported the food drive this year, a job well done and so needed. We set off from our first meeting place with 3 cars and 6 members. We had two daily drivers and Tom Sansone brought his 1972 Land Cruiser along with his friend Larry. We stopped about half way to our second meeting place to check out the “Ghost Bridge” at the Oak Ridge Reservoir. At our second meeting place, we met up with 7 additional members, bringing two Model A’s and 3 daily drivers. Now it’s off to the food pantry in Wayne. We met the volunteers at the food pantry and dropped off our donations. While at the food pantry, Barbara Cohen, the director, explained about their mission. They serve 190 families. About 120 of them are seniors, who have a hard time making ends meet. They are very thankful for all of our donations. Dick Seabury caught up with the group just to drop off his donation. Volume 67 Issue 1 THE ACCELERATOR Page 14 After the food pantry we took a nice drive through the back roads to get to Guisseppe’s Restaurant in Oak Ridge. Everyone enjoyed their meal and I do believe everyone went home with a doggie bag. The portions are incredible and so very delicious. I am very thankful for the opportunity to help others in need. Even though most of us did not bring our Model A, it is fantastic that we can still do things as a group with our modern cars. It just goes to show that everyone is welcome regardless of how you arrive. Thank you all again for the donations you have made. Let’s do this again next year. BY: Jeff Vanderhoff
