The Gymkhana was held on a beautiful, sunny, calm and comfortable day at Pochuk Valley Farms in Vernon NJ. The venue offered a grassy field for the games and a nice tree for shade. Four drivers participated in each of the six games.
The games were:
  • Maypole
In the Maypole the driver holds a rope tied to a pole. At the midpoint of the rope hangs a weight. The goal is to drive in a circle around the pole and deposit the weight at the starting point. Ken Potts won this event.
  • Balloon Toss
The Balloon Toss required tossing water balloons from the driver’s windows over the top of the car into a bucket by the passenger door. Dick Bettle won this event.
  • Plumb Bob
In the Plumb Bob game a plumb bob is hung from the center of the front bumper and the driver attempts to position the car so as to center the plumb bob over an X on a board. Dick Smith won this event.
  • Revolution
In the Revolution game the driver attempts to drive the car the distance to result in one revolution of a wheel. Ken Potts won this game.
  • Slalom and Balloon Burst
In the Slalom and Balloon Burst the goal is to weave the car between five water balloons on the outbound leg and burst all balloons on the return leg. Ken Potts won this event.
  • Blind Driver Parking
In the Blind Driver Parking event a bag is placed over the driver’s head and he follows a guide’s instructions as backs out of a simulated garage while  making a right turn and pulling forward to park in a simulated pole barn. John Morgan won this event and guest Henry Tienken served as guide.
Overall scoring and awards will be presented at the next club meeting. After the games we adjourned to enjoy the ambiance and cuisine of the renovated tap room of the George Inn and ice cream just down the road at the Dairy Swirl.
