Submitted by: Jeff Vanderhoff President 2025 At our last meeting, we learned that all the bills are in from the club firetruck and they are all paid. Our club is in great financial shape and all is good. I would like to thank everyone involved with the project. It was great to see the members of the club getting involved with the restoration. If you haven’t taken it out for a ride, do so. It is a lot of fun…
Submitted by: Evelyn Vanderoff It was a beautiful fall day for our fall foliage tour. We had 10 Model A’s and drove for 70 miles. We stopped half way at Anderson Farms in Sparta for some fall goodies and of course ice cream. We drove around a lake which had a very narrow road and many back roads in Passaic and Sussex County. The leaves were just perfect!! After the tour, everyone came back to our house for an “Oktoberfest.”…
Submitted by: Chris McManemin The Bendix system on the starter motor like any part gets worn over time. There are two 5/16” bolts and washers that hold the spring in place. Over time they loosen and shear off into the bell housing or worse; become lodged between the housing and the flywheel (Pictured). This unfortunately happened to me and it was a real challenge to get the bolt dislodged and removed. The flywheel was totally locked up. The crank would…
It is Fall now with a couple of tours left. Come on out and drive with us, a Model A is preferred but you are more than welcome to come with any automobile. Just join in!! The Fall Hershey meet is over. I saw many members of our club in the flea market section. I also saw many MARC members there too. Submitted by: David Volosin On Saturday, September 13th, the Model A Ford Club of New Jersey celebrated International Model A Ford Day with a tour and some local town drive throughs highlighting the event. Seven cars, 9 adults and two kids had a ball as we traveled the countryside and surprised a few local towns blowing our “ahooga” horns. Noone got arrested. On the tour we visited Kinnelon, Fayson Lakes, drove through Rockaway Valley, Denville Center and the Town of…
Submitted by Evelyn Vanderhoff It was a beautiful Sunday afternoon to have our annual club picnic. Everyone brought the most delicious foods for our party. I would like to send a special thank you to John and Helen for their donation of all the burgers, hotdogs, buns and of course the cheese. It was exciting to see our new members at this event. I know some new friendships have developed and will continue to grow throughout the years. It was…
Submitted by: Chris McManemin In 2024 our club Newsletter and Website made an editor transfer. Many, many thanks to Joan Kimball and the extensive amount of hard work she donated to the club over the years. With this transfer our Newsletter and website required new tooling for transfer of materials and publishing. The transfer from the previous software allows for some new technical additions and updating to the website. Moving forward, one addition allows us to save articles on the…

Submitted by Richard Smith We held the 2025 Gymkhana July 13th at the Pochuck Valley Farm Market and Deli. Terri and I arrived early enough to enjoy their ham, egg and cheese sandwiches before setting up for the games. The venue is excellent as it includes a nice shade tree and the grassy area avoids the summer heat of pavement. Five participants who brought their Model A’s included Jeff Vanderhof, John Morgan, Jim Dunlap, Ken Potts, and Richard Smith. Vinnie…
Fall is approaching and so is the end of the year. The cooler mornings remind me to get out and drive my Model A. We have some great upcoming events planned for driving. The club picnic, the fall foliage tour, the frostbite tour…. along with other things that are coming soon. I think this is the best time to tour due to the weather. And then there is Hershey. This is one of my favorite things to do. It’s not…
Since 1952 the Chatham Borough Fourth of July celebration has been sponsored by the Chatham Borough Fire Department. The event gives the community the American “hometown” feeling and has come to symbolize what life is like in small town USA. Borough residents line up chairs along the route days ahead of time for this annual parade. A Perfect Day for a Parade! Mother Nature truly smiled on us this year! The weather was absolutely ideal for our classic Model As…
The firetruck project is nearly completed and it is a beautiful truck. The truck was taken to the national meet in Gettysburg this June. It was admired by the spectators and scored very well in touring class. It was a lot of fun touring the Gettysburg Battle Grounds and of course, ice cream after. The fire truck is for all of us to enjoy, so get it out and take it for a drive. Let’s not forget about the…
BY: JEFF VANDERHOFF It was a beautiful day for a parade. The sun was shining and the temperature was perfect!! Brian and RonDee Lockwood asked Jeff to oversee their parade plans. Brian and RonDee had all the plans worked out in advance which made it very simple. We met at our usual spot and participated in the Newton Memorial Day Parade. Unfortunately, we did not have a big show of cars. During the parade, there were many spectators there who…
It is nice to see old members stop by our meetings. At our last meeting, Glen Sweerts paid the club a visit. He mentioned some old memories and spoke about past members. He also dropped off a box of parts. These parts were distributed to members at the meeting. Thank you Glen. On a sad note, this is Joan Kimball’s last newsletter. After 31 years, Joan has decided to retire her position as our newsletter publisher. I would like to…
I am happy to report there has been lots of progress on the continued project of restoring our club fire truck. We are about ¾ of the way to its completion. We were able to get the engine started and running last week, what a sweet sound and there was quite a round of applause. There are many finishing touches that still need to be done, but the majority of the reassembly is finished. There is still wiring, mounting the…
We had a beautiful day for our tour which began at the Dunkin donuts in Denville on Sunday, May 18th. Eight Model A’s and one Pontiac departed, traveling through Parsippany, Mor-ris Plains and Morristown. The route took us along the quiet country roads of Harding Township and then downtown Madison making our first stop at Rusty King’s, a past member of our club. Rusty has an overwhelming collection of player pianos and juke boxes. The pianos are coin operated for…
I would like to acknowledge everyone who had made a donation to MAYRA – Model A Youth Restoration Award – at our last meeting. Our club members were very generous and the MAYRA scholarship must be successful so our hobby can stay strong for years to come. These young people are our future Model A club members. Thank you to all involved. The fire truck is coming along. Most of the sheet-metal is mounted and is starting to look like…
